Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment & Care: Conduct thorough patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and implement appropriate nursing interventions to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Medication Management: Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, adhering strictly to safety protocols and documentation standards.
- Collaborative Care: Communicate effectively with physicians, nurse practitioners, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care plans.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, patient charts, and shift reports in compliance with HIPAA and hospital policies.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and families on disease management, medication side effects, and post-discharge care instructions.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to code blue alerts and medical emergencies within your unit.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required; PALS preferred depending on unit assignment.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or acute care setting.
- Skills: Strong critical thinking, time management, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Computer Proficiency: Must be comfortable navigating electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Availability: Willingness to work a rotating schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the department.
