Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment and arranging sterile instruments for surgical procedures
- Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and suturing under supervision
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques and sterile field integrity throughout all surgical procedures
- Transport patients to/from operating rooms and position them appropriately for specific surgeries
- Count sponges, needles, and instruments before/after procedures to ensure patient safety
- Clean and sterilize surgical equipment post-procedure according to infection control protocols
- Document surgical equipment usage and inventory in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Knowledge of sterile processing and OSHA compliance standards
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced surgical environments
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
- Experience with electronic health record systems
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and stand for extended periods
