Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons during operations, anticipating their needs for instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Prepare operating rooms and sterilize surgical equipment and instruments.
- Ensure the sterile field is maintained throughout the procedure.
- Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and other personnel, according to the surgical procedure.
- Monitor the patient's vital signs and report any abnormalities to the charge nurse or surgeon.
- Arrange supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
- Document patient care actions and surgical procedures accurately.
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or surgical setting preferred.
- Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Current California Surgical Technologist license.
- Physical ability to lift and move patients and equipment when necessary.
