Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment and arranging surgical instruments
- Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining sterile fields
- Count supplies and instruments before/after surgeries to ensure completeness
- Transport patients to operating rooms and position them for procedures
- Apply sterile dressings and monitor patient vital signs during operations
- Manage surgical inventory and restock supplies in sterile processing areas
- Comply with OSHA and Joint Commission safety protocols
- Document procedural activities in electronic health records
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- No prior surgical tech experience required – training provided!
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Basic computer literacy for documentation systems
- Pass background check and pre-employment physical
- Certification exam preparation included in training
