Responsibilities
- Medication Dispensing: Accurately prepare and package prescriptions according to physician orders and state regulations.
- Customer Assistance: Interact with patients to provide medication information, verify insurance coverage, and resolve prescription inquiries.
- Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels, manage pharmaceutical inventory, and place orders for necessary supplies.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA privacy laws, DEA regulations, and state pharmacy board guidelines.
- Quality Assurance: Perform routine checks and audits to minimize medication errors and ensure high-quality service.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and pharmacy documentation.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) required by the state of Illinois.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Pharmacy Technology is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to verify data and a commitment to patient safety.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical terms clearly.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using pharmacy management software and standard office equipment.
