Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescription medications and pharmaceutical preparations under pharmacist supervision
- Manage inventory control, including ordering, receiving, and auditing controlled substances
- Process insurance claims and assist with third-party billing systems
- Provide exceptional patient counseling on medication usage and side effects
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA, DEA, and NYS pharmacy regulations
- Operate automated dispensing systems and pharmacy management software
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient medication therapy
Qualifications
- Active New York State Pharmacy Technician license (required)
- 1+ years of retail or hospital pharmacy experience preferred
- Proficiency in pharmacy software (e.g., QS1, Omnicell)
- Strong knowledge of NYS pharmacy laws and regulations
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) designation a plus
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
- Attention to detail with high accuracy in medication handling
