Responsibilities
- Dispensing: Prepare and package prescription medications under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, order pharmaceutical supplies, and manage the storage of medications in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Customer Service: Assist patients with prescription inquiries, process insurance claims, and explain medication usage instructions clearly.
- Data Entry: Input and verify prescription information into pharmacy management systems and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal pharmacy laws, including HIPAA privacy regulations and OSHA safety standards.
- Quality Assurance: Perform routine checks on medication labels and packaging to prevent errors.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current New York State Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred; new graduates with externship experience are encouraged to apply.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent mathematical skills, and proficiency with computer systems.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and healthcare providers.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
