Responsibilities
- Prescription Processing: Accurately fill prescriptions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and legal regulations.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to patients by answering questions regarding medications, insurance benefits, and drug interactions in a polite and professional manner.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, replenish inventory, and assist in the ordering and receiving of pharmaceutical supplies to ensure nothing runs out.
- Administrative Duties: Prepare insurance claims, manage patient records, and maintain accurate documentation of all pharmacy transactions.
- Compounding & Preparation: Assist in the preparation and labeling of medications, including compounding sterile preparations and oral liquids.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and state pharmacy board laws regarding patient confidentiality and medication handling.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Pharmacy Technician certification (ExCPT, CPhT, or state-specific equivalent) required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, staff, and healthcare providers.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency with pharmacy management software (e.g., Rx30, QS/1, McKesson) is a plus.
