Responsibilities
- Medication Preparation: Accurately prepare and package prescribed medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Prescription Verification: Review prescriptions for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness before dispensing.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate stock levels, conduct regular inventories, and ensure proper storage of controlled substances.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to patients, answering questions regarding medications, dosages, and side effects.
- Insurance Processing: Assist in processing insurance claims and verifying patient coverage for prescriptions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to all state and federal pharmacy laws, HIPAA regulations, and hospital policies.
- Record Keeping: Maintain precise records of all transactions and patient interactions.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred; state license required where applicable.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program is a plus.
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is highly desirable.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to focus on detail to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact professionally with patients and staff.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency with pharmacy management software (e.g., Cerner, McKesson) and basic computer operations.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
