Responsibilities
- Prescription Processing: Accurately receive, verify, and prepare prescriptions for dispensing under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain pharmacy stock levels, ensuring all medications are properly stored and organized.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients and healthcare providers to answer questions regarding medications, insurance coverage, and refill requests.
- Medication Preparation: Perform compounding tasks and prepare sterile medications where required by state regulations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations, state pharmacy laws, and hospital policies to ensure patient privacy and safety.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all pharmaceutical transactions and patient profiles.
Qualifications
- Certification: Active certification as a Pharmacy Technician (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting preferred.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with pharmacy management software and computer systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
