Responsibilities
- Dispense Medications: accurately prepare and package prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, order pharmaceutical supplies, and manage expiration dates to ensure optimal inventory turnover.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients to answer questions regarding medications, insurance coverage, and refill requests with a friendly demeanor.
- Insurance Verification: Process insurance claims, verify patient information, and resolve billing discrepancies efficiently.
- Compounding: Assist in the preparation of compounded medications as needed, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, patient profiles, and controlled substance logs (DAW codes).
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or ExCPT certification required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with pharmacy management software (e.g., Cerner, Rx30) and computer systems.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to multi-task and maintain accuracy in high-pressure environments.
- Licensure: Valid California Pharmacy Technician license.
