Responsibilities
- Medication Dispensing: Accurately prepare and dispense prescription medications to patients, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, manage pharmaceutical inventory, and process incoming orders to ensure timely availability of medications.
- Customer Service: Interact with patients and healthcare providers in a professional manner, answering questions and providing exceptional service at the counter.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal laws, including HIPAA regulations, ensuring patient privacy and safety protocols are strictly followed.
- Insurance Processing: Verify insurance coverage and process claims accurately to minimize billing errors and delays.
- Quality Assurance: Assist in the quality control of medications and report any discrepancies or potential errors immediately to the Pharmacist in Charge.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to perform repetitive tasks with high accuracy and maintain focus in a busy environment.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a diverse team.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform duties requiring fine motor skills.
