Responsibilities
- Prescription Processing: Accurately receive, prepare, and dispense medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, manage incoming deliveries, and ensure proper storage of pharmaceuticals in compliance with safety regulations.
- Customer Service: Assist patients with inquiries, explain prescription information clearly, and resolve any concerns regarding medications or billing.
- Quality Assurance: Verify prescriptions for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness before dispensing to patients.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and medication profiles in the pharmacy management system.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to HIPAA guidelines and state pharmacy laws regarding patient privacy and handling of controlled substances.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current, unencumbered Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting.
- Skills: Strong mathematical skills for medication calculations and proficiency with pharmacy software (e.g., Rx30, McKesson).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient education.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift boxes weighing up to 30 lbs.
