Responsibilities
- Prescription Processing: Accurately verify and prepare prescriptions for dispensing, ensuring all patient information and dosage instructions are correct.
- Medication Dispensing: Label and package medications, including controlled substances, following strict state and federal regulations.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, receive and organize pharmaceutical supplies, and place orders as needed to prevent shortages.
- Patient Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service to patients by answering questions regarding their medications and providing counseling on usage.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, and pharmacy-specific safety protocols to ensure a secure environment.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with pharmacists and nursing staff to resolve discrepancies and ensure patient safety.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current certification as a Pharmacy Technician (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
