Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures adhering to strict protocols
- Process and label specimens accurately while maintaining chain of custody documentation
- Operate automated laboratory equipment including analyzers and centrifuges
- Provide exceptional patient care with emphasis on comfort and anxiety reduction
- Maintain sterile environments and infection control standards
- Collaborate with medical staff regarding specimen collection requirements
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, NHA, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience
- BLS/CPR certification required
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques for diverse patient populations
- Knowledge of OSHA and CLIA compliance standards
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to remain calm under pressure
- High school diploma or equivalent with science coursework preferred
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 15-20 pounds
