Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary blood collections across diverse patient populations
- Label, process, and transport specimens following strict HIPAA and OSHA guidelines
- Verify patient identities and maintain detailed electronic documentation
- Prepare equipment and supplies for blood draws while ensuring sterile techniques
- Provide patient education on procedures and address concerns with empathy
- Collaborate with medical staff to resolve specimen collection issues
- Maintain inventory and calibration of phlebotomy equipment
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives and process improvements
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience
- Proficiency in venipuncture, capillary draws, and specimen handling
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA compliance standards
- Excellent communication skills with diverse patient populations
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Basic computer skills for electronic documentation systems
- CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
