Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary puncture, and microcollection procedures with precision and minimal patient discomfort
- Process and label specimens accurately according to laboratory protocols
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA compliance and infection control standards
- Provide patient education on pre-test preparation and procedure details
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment including analyzers and centrifuges
- Document patient information and test results in EMR systems with meticulous attention to detail
- Collaborate with nursing and laboratory teams to ensure seamless workflow
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques across diverse patient populations
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and CLIA regulations
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to reduce patient anxiety
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Ability to work efficiently in high-volume settings while maintaining accuracy
