Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and specimen collection with precision and minimal patient discomfort
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and transport of specimens to maintain chain of custody
- Verify patient identities and prepare samples for testing in compliance with CLIA and HIPAA standards
- Calibrate equipment and maintain a sterile, organized collection area
- Document procedures accurately in electronic health records systems
- Provide patient education and support during blood collection processes
Qualifications
- Current California Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification required
- Minimum 1 year clinical phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced setting
- BLS/CPR certification from recognized provider
- Proficiency with EHR systems and specimen tracking software
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to infection control protocols
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
