Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary punctures, and microcollection procedures with precision and minimal patient discomfort
- Verify patient identity and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis following strict protocols
- Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records and specimen tracking systems
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of biological specimens
- Adhere to OSHA safety guidelines and infection control procedures
- Provide exceptional patient communication and comfort during blood collection
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to resolve specimen issues and ensure timely processing
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Technician certification (ASCP, AMT, or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in venipuncture techniques and pediatric collections
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
- Ability to work independently while maintaining high attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to calm anxious patients
- Basic computer skills for data entry and specimen tracking systems
- Valid Texas driver's license and reliable transportation
