Responsibilities

  • Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages using aseptic technique.
  • Verify patient identification and accurately complete accessioning, labeling, and log entries for all specimens.
  • Maintain a sterile, clean, and organized work area, ensuring all equipment is calibrated and functional.
  • Process, transport, and store specimens in accordance with laboratory safety protocols.
  • Greet patients, explain procedures, and alleviate anxiety to ensure a smooth collection process.
  • Assist with general clerical duties and front-desk support as needed during high-volume periods.
  • Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure accurate test ordering and result retrieval.

Qualifications

  • Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT, ASPT, or ASCP) is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient care.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
