Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Prepare and label blood samples accurately according to laboratory protocols and chain of custody.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety and infection control standards (OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA).
- Greet patients, explain procedures, and answer questions to reduce anxiety and build trust.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment and manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies.
- Collaborate with nurses and lab staff to ensure seamless patient flow and care.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or Medical Assistant (MA) with phlebotomy certification required.
- Current Kentucky state license or valid certification (e.g., ASCP, NAACLS) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Proven experience in venipuncture and handling diverse patient populations.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex laboratory instructions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate demeanor.
