Responsibilities
- Specimen Collection: Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws efficiently and accurately following strict safety protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Patient Interaction: Interact professionally with patients of all ages, explaining procedures to alleviate anxiety and ensuring a positive patient experience.
- Equipment Maintenance: Properly maintain, clean, and sanitize phlebotomy equipment and supplies to ensure regulatory compliance and patient safety.
- Record Keeping: Accurately document patient information, test results, and specimen details in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and restock supplies, including blood tubes, tourniquets, and bandages, to prevent operational shortages.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current ASCP or NHA Phlebotomy Technician certification required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Phlebotomy program preferred.
- Licensure: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of clinical phlebotomy experience preferred; new graduates with relevant externships are encouraged to apply.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced clinical setting.
