Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Verify patient identity and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis according to strict protocols.
- Maintain a clean, sterile, and organized work environment to ensure patient safety.
- Explain procedures to patients, address concerns, and provide exceptional customer service to build trust.
- Log and track specimens accurately using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
- Assist with inventory management of phlebotomy supplies and equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, doctors, and laboratory staff to ensure seamless workflows.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent (e.g., ASCP, NHA) required.
- Current California State Phlebotomy License.
- CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex medical instructions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
