Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages, ensuring minimal discomfort and maximum safety.
- Verify patient identity and accurately label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory for analysis.
- Adhere strictly to OSHA safety regulations and HIPAA compliance standards during all collection procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures, reduce anxiety, and answer any medical questions.
- Maintain accurate patient records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and manage specimen inventory.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure timely delivery of results and smooth workflow in the clinic.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- Current State of Michigan Phlebotomy License.
- Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred, but entry-level candidates with externship experience are encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and vein structure.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on patient empathy.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
