Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary punctures on patients of all ages with minimal discomfort and maximum safety.
- Verify patient identities and accurately label specimens according to laboratory protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and functioning correctly.
- Communicate effectively with patients to alleviate anxiety and explain procedures clearly.
- Process and transport blood samples to the laboratory for analysis in a timely manner.
- Adhere strictly to all HIPAA regulations and infection control policies.
- Assist with administrative duties such as updating patient records and scheduling appointments.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification required.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience in a clinical setting (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is a plus.
