Responsibilities
- Collect Blood Samples: Perform venipunctures and capillary collections safely and accurately according to established protocols.
- Patient Interaction: Greet patients, explain procedures, and ensure their comfort and safety during the draw process.
- Specimen Handling: Properly label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory for analysis.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and sterilize phlebotomy equipment and workstations to ensure infection control standards.
- Record Keeping: Accurately document patient information, results, and any adverse reactions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification required (e.g., ASCP, NHA).
- Licensure: Valid New Jersey Phlebotomy license.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to work well under pressure.
