Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages in a professional and calm manner.
- Prepare and label blood samples accurately for laboratory analysis, adhering to strict chain-of-custody protocols.
- Greet patients, explain the phlebotomy process, and ensure their comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sterile work environment in compliance with OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure accurate specimen collection and patient record documentation.
- Assist with clerical duties, including answering phones and scheduling appointments, to support the front office.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred (training provided for qualified candidates).
- Strong desire to learn and a commitment to pursuing a career in healthcare.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to navigate electronic health record systems.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs with proper body mechanics.
