Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures following OSHA and CLIA guidelines
- Process, label, and transport specimens to laboratory for analysis
- Verify patient identity and maintain accurate electronic health records
- Provide patient education and emotional support during blood draws
- Calibrate and maintain phlebotomy equipment (tourniquets, needles, collection tubes)
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure efficient patient flow
- Uphip HIPAA compliance and strict infection control protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- No prior phlebotomy experience necessary
- Valid CPR certification (training provided if needed)
- Ability to stand for 6+ hours and perform repetitive motions
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Pass background check and pre-employment drug screen
- Basic computer literacy for documentation systems
- Florida driver's license (for specimen transport)
