Responsibilities
- Assess patient acuity and prioritize cases in the emergency department using established triage protocols
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare providers
- Initiate appropriate interventions based on clinical assessment and physician orders
- Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record system
- Collaborate with charge nurses and physicians to ensure optimal patient flow
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and emergency preparedness drills
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and hospital policies
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Virginia (or compact state)
- Minimum 2 years of emergency department or critical care experience
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Strong assessment skills and ability to work under pressure
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Epic EHR preferred
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
