Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary punctures on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Verify patient identity and accurately prepare specimens for laboratory testing according to strict protocols.
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to all OSHA and CLIA safety regulations.
- Update Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems promptly and ensure all documentation is error-free.
- Provide exceptional customer service, answering patient questions and alleviating anxiety during procedures.
- Assist in the collection of quality control samples and participate in daily lab operations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure accurate test order fulfillment.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- 1-2 years of professional phlebotomy experience preferred, but new grads with internships are encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy, circulatory systems, and proper venipuncture techniques.
- Proficient in using EMR/EHR software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for potential site travel within Tucson.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or evenings.
