Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented individual to perform venipunctures and capillary draws, manage inventory, and ensure strict compliance with safety regulations. If you possess the technical expertise and the bedside manner to thrive in a fast-paced medical setting, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine venipunctures and capillary blood draws with precision, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Properly label, process, and transport specimens to the laboratory, strictly adhering to chain of custody protocols and HIPAA guidelines.
- Greet patients warmly, explain procedures clearly to alleviate anxiety, and maintain a professional, patient-centric environment.
- Manage phlebotomy inventory, ensuring supplies are stocked, sterilized, and organized efficiently.
- Collaborate closely with nurses and physicians to ensure accurate specimen labeling and patient record accuracy.
- Adhere to all OSHA safety standards and facility policies regarding infection control and waste disposal.
- Handle difficult draws with patience and employ alternative collection methods when necessary.
Qualifications
- Current, unexpired Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT) or equivalent state licensure required.
- CPR/BLS Certification (American Heart Association) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient setting is strongly preferred.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients of diverse backgrounds.
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity required for successful specimen collection.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
- Valid California Driverβs License and reliable transportation.
