Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary draws, and specimen collection with precision and care
- Ensure proper specimen handling, labeling, and processing per HIPAA protocols
- Provide exceptional patient communication and comfort during procedures
- Maintain accurate electronic health records and documentation
- Collaborate with lab teams for efficient specimen processing
- Adhere to OSHA safety standards and infection control protocols
- Train new staff on phlebotomy techniques and equipment
Qualifications
- Active California Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification required
- Minimum 1 year clinical experience in hospital or lab setting
- BLS/CPR certification preferred
- Excellent venipuncture skills with minimal callbacks
- Strong interpersonal skills for diverse patient populations
- Proficiency in LIS/EHR systems (Epic experience a plus)
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends
