Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood collections using aseptic technique and proper anatomical landmarks.
- Verify patient identity and explain procedures clearly to ensure patient comfort and cooperation.
- Label, process, and transport blood specimens to the laboratory accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain strict patient records and adhere to all HIPAA compliance standards and laboratory protocols.
- Assist with inventory management of phlebotomy supplies, tubes, and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper sterilization of equipment.
Qualifications
- Current Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent (ASCP, NHA, etc.).
- Active State of Texas license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Previous experience in a clinical, outpatient, or hospital setting preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for patient interaction.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle physical demands such as standing for extended periods.
