Responsibilities
- Accurately code medical claims using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems
- Review and submit claims to insurance companies with 95%+ accuracy
- Manage patient billing inquiries and resolve payment discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and billing standards
- Process electronic claims through EHR systems (Epic/Cerner experience preferred)
- Conduct insurance verification and pre-authorization procedures
- Generate monthly reports on billing performance and denial trends
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Proficiency in medical coding software (e.g., EncoderPro, CodeLink)
- Strong knowledge of insurance claim processes and reimbursement
- Exceptional attention to detail with numerical accuracy
- Excellent communication skills for patient and provider interactions
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with Wisconsin Medicaid and Medicare guidelines
