Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages with precision and minimal discomfort.
- Verify patient identities and accurately label all blood samples and specimens for laboratory testing.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, including OSHA standards and HIPAA compliance to protect patient privacy.
- Manage Electronic Health Records (EHR) efficiently, documenting procedures and results accurately.
- Comfort and reassure patients during the blood collection process to ensure a positive experience.
- Prepare and sterilize phlebotomy equipment according to strict infection control guidelines.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and staff.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow complex laboratory procedures.
- Ability to lift and move patients or equipment as necessary (up to 25 lbs).
