Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Monitor patient health, administer medications, and provide high-quality clinical care according to hospital protocols and nursing standards.
- Assessment: Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, identifying changes in condition and escalating concerns to physicians.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR) and patient charts to ensure continuity of care.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to code blues and emergency situations, demonstrating critical thinking and leadership skills.
- Education: Educate patients and families on post-discharge care, disease management, and health promotion strategies.
- Infection Control: Adhere strictly to all safety and infection control policies to protect patients and staff.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or Virginia.
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical rotations may be considered.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required; PALS preferred for pediatric units.
- Skills: Strong critical thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer Proficiency: Ability to navigate electronic medical records and hospital information systems efficiently.
