Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough patient assessments upon admission and throughout the shift to identify immediate care needs.
- Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately, adhering to strict safety protocols and physician orders.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records (EHR) documenting patient conditions, interventions, and responses to treatment.
- Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Emergency Response: Monitor patients for critical changes and respond swiftly to medical emergencies to ensure patient safety.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and families on disease processes, medication side effects, and discharge instructions.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or a compact state.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience preferred, with specific unit experience (e.g., Med-Surg, ICU, Telemetry) being a plus.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and proficiency in electronic medical record systems.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on patient advocacy.
- Availability: Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
