Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive telephone triage assessments for a diverse patient population, utilizing clinical protocols and evidence-based guidelines.
- Evaluate patient symptoms, history, and current medications to determine the urgency of care and appropriate next steps.
- Document all interactions accurately and in real-time within our Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurse practitioners, and emergency services to ensure seamless continuity of care.
- Provide clear, empathetic, and instructive medical advice to patients and their families over the phone.
- Identify and escalate critical cases immediately to ensure patient safety and timely intervention.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and state nursing board guidelines during all patient interactions.
Qualifications
- Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Alaska (or willingness to obtain).
- Minimum of 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience (Medical-Surgical, ER, or ICU preferred).
- Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
- Strong clinical decision-making skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical concepts clearly.
- Proficiency with computer systems and EMR software.
