Responsibilities
- Assess Patient Needs: Conduct thorough initial and ongoing assessments of patient health status to determine appropriate nursing interventions.
- Administer Care: Implement and evaluate patient care plans as prescribed by physicians, ensuring adherence to medical standards and hospital protocols.
- Medication Management: Safely administer medications and treatments, verifying patient allergies and contraindications prior to delivery.
- Monitor Vital Signs: Continuously observe and record patient vital signs and clinical changes, escalating concerns to the charge nurse or physician immediately.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and legible medical records in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on disease processes, treatment plans, and self-care techniques to promote recovery.
- Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure holistic patient care.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred; new graduates welcome.
- Skills: Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities under pressure.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact compassionately with patients of all backgrounds.
- Technical: Proficiency in navigating electronic medical records (EMR) and medical equipment.
