Responsibilities
- Assess Patient Health: Conduct comprehensive health assessments and physical examinations to identify patient needs and develop appropriate care plans.
- Administer Care: Implement and monitor patient care plans, administer medications, and perform treatments according to physician orders and hospital protocols.
- Monitor Progress: Continuously monitor patient vital signs and clinical condition, documenting changes and alerting the healthcare team immediately.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient transitions and optimal outcomes.
- Education: Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, health maintenance, and post-discharge care instructions.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, charts, and logs in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to medical emergencies, providing critical care and support during crises.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and time management skills.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and families of diverse backgrounds.
- Technology: Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
- Compassion: Demonstrated ability to provide empathetic and patient-centered care under pressure.
