Responsibilities
- Review and verify medical records to ensure accuracy before billing.
- Submit clean claims to insurance payers (commercial and government) using clearinghouse software.
- Follow up on denied or rejected claims and appeal them within required timeframes.
- Manage patient invoicing, statements, and payment collections to ensure timely revenue.
- Stay updated on current coding standards (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with the accounts receivable team to optimize cash flow and reduce write-offs.
- Generate and analyze billing reports to identify trends and improve practice performance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Medical Billing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Certification (CPC, CMC, CBCS) is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
- Strong working knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Billing Software (e.g., AthenaHealth, Epic, Greenway).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel is a plus).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting strict deadlines.
