Responsibilities
- Prepare and Package Medications: Accurately measure, mix, and package prescription medications according to physician orders and safety protocols.
- Verify Prescription Orders: Review prescriptions for completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness; identify and resolve any potential drug interactions.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, restock medications, and manage expiration dates to ensure a well-organized pharmacy environment.
- Customer Service: Assist customers with prescription inquiries, insurance verification, and provide medication counseling where required.
- Data Entry: Maintain accurate patient records and pharmacy inventory systems using specialized software.
- Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal regulations, including HIPAA, regarding patient privacy and handling of controlled substances.
Qualifications
- Certification: Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology, dosage calculations, and pharmacy software systems.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Attention to Detail: Must be highly organized and capable of working in a fast-paced environment with high accuracy.
