Responsibilities
- Process and submit clean claims to insurance payers (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial) using ICD-10 and CPT codes
- Resolve claim denials and underpayments through meticulous follow-up and appeals documentation
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits to prevent billing discrepancies
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and payer-specific regulations
- Analyze aging reports and identify opportunities to improve cash flow
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure accurate charge capture and documentation
- Generate monthly billing reports for provider performance analysis
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience with commercial and government payers
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential required
- Proficiency in Epic, Athenahealth, or similar EHR/billing platforms
- Expert knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding guidelines
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for complex claim resolution
- Experience working remotely with self-disciplined time management
- Familiarity with North Carolina Medicaid and Blue Cross Blue Shield policies
