Responsibilities
- Process and submit accurate medical claims to insurance companies and government payers
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits prior to service delivery
- Conduct thorough claim audits to identify and resolve billing discrepancies
- Manage accounts receivable collections through strategic follow-up protocols
- Stay updated on HIPAA, CMS, and CA Medi-Cal regulations
- Collaborate with clinical teams to resolve coding and documentation issues
- Generate monthly revenue cycle performance reports
- Train junior billing staff on compliance procedures
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing experience with commercial and government payers
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or CPC certification required
- Proficiency in Epic, NextGen, or similar EHR systems
- Expert knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Experience with denial resolution and appeals processes
- Familiarity with CA Medi-Cal and Blue Shield of California policies
- Associate's degree in Health Information Management preferred
