Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare and submit medical claims to insurance carriers (Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare).
- Review claims for coding errors, denials, and rejections before submission.
- Follow up on outstanding claims and appeals to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Manage patient billing inquiries and explain financial responsibilities clearly.
- Reconcile accounts receivable and maintain accurate billing records.
- Ensure all billing practices comply with HIPAA and payer regulations.
- Collaborate with the coding and collections teams to resolve complex issues.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Medical Billing preferred.
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CPT certification highly desired.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing or medical coding.
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines.
- Proficiency in EHR/EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
