Responsibilities
- Accurately code and bill complex medical procedures using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS systems
- Manage denial resolution and appeals processes with 95%+ first-pass success rate
- Conduct thorough insurance verification and prior authorization coordination
- Optimize charge capture and revenue cycle analytics using Epic EHR systems
- Maintain strict HIPAA compliance in all patient financial interactions
- Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure documentation meets billing requirements
- Generate monthly performance reports for department leadership
Qualifications
- 5+ years of medical billing experience in a hospital or large practice setting
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) required
- Expert knowledge of NY Medicaid and commercial payer regulations
- Advanced proficiency in medical billing software (e.g., NextGen, Athenahealth)
- Demonstrated success in reducing AR days below national benchmarks
- Bachelor's degree in Health Administration or related field preferred
