Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense prescription medications with 100% accuracy following HIPAA and FDA guidelines
- Manage inventory control systems including ordering, receiving, and auditing controlled substances
- Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, and prescription fulfillment procedures
- Operate automated dispensing systems and maintain electronic health records
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy management
- Maintain sterile compounding environments for IV preparations and specialty medications
- Train new pharmacy technicians on department protocols and regulatory compliance
Qualifications
- Active Michigan Pharmacy Technician license (PTCB or ExCPT certified)
- Minimum 3 years experience in hospital or retail pharmacy setting
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software (Omnicell, QS1, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of sterile compounding USP 797 standards
- Exceptional attention to detail with proven medication error prevention record
- CPR certification and ability to lift 25 lbs regularly
- Excellent communication skills with diverse patient populations
