Responsibilities
- Perform advanced venipuncture techniques including difficult draws and pediatric specimens
- Train and mentor junior phlebotomy staff on best practices and compliance standards
- Oversee specimen processing and ensure chain-of-custody protocols are maintained
- Implement quality control measures for phlebotomy equipment and procedures
- Collaborate with physicians and lab technicians to optimize specimen collection protocols
- Conduct patient assessments to determine appropriate collection methods
- Maintain 100% compliance with CAP, CLIA, and HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
- Current California Phlebotomy Technician certification (CPT)
- Minimum 3 years of clinical phlebotomy experience in high-volume setting
- Expertise in specialized techniques (arterial draws, IV starts, pediatric draws)
- Certification in CPR and basic life support
- Proven ability to train and lead technical teams
- Experience with LIS/HIS systems and electronic documentation
- Exceptional patient communication skills for diverse populations
- Ability to work flexible hours including occasional weekends
