Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws with precision and patient comfort
- Process and label specimens according to HIPAA and CLIA standards
- Operate automated laboratory equipment (analyzers, centrifuges)
- Maintain accurate patient records in electronic health systems
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians on specimen collection protocols
- Train junior phlebotomy staff on best practices
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control procedures
Qualifications
- Current New York State Phlebotomy Technician certification
- Minimum 3 years' clinical experience in acute care settings
- Valid BLS/CPR certification
- Proficiency in LIS/HIS systems (Epic preferred)
- Exceptional venipuncture skills with difficult access patients
- Strong knowledge of OSHA bloodborne pathogen standards
- Ability to work efficiently in high-volume environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
