In this role, you will be the face of our diagnostic services, responsible for collecting blood samples with the utmost accuracy while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary collections on patients of all ages with precision and empathy.
- Verify patient identity and confirm medical orders before specimen collection to ensure compliance.
- Properly label, process, and transport biological specimens to the laboratory under strict timeframes.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations, OSHA standards, and laboratory safety protocols.
- Train and mentor junior phlebotomy staff and medical students in proper techniques.
- Manage inventory of phlebotomy supplies and report any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or equivalent certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical, hospital, or high-volume laboratory setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (ACLS preferred).
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to de-escalate patient anxiety during procedures.
- Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
